SCTE EXPO 2013
EXPO took place from October 21-24th in Atlanta Georgia and was held at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Pat Esser (CEO Cox) discussed the future of next generation service delivery with Bob Stanzione (CEO Arris) and Dave Watson (COO Comcast).  The panel discussion explored many topics including WiFi hotsposts, Expanding capacity on RF networks and Enhancing customer experience with new products and services.

Excitement was palpable at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on the EXPO show floor.  The Atlanta Braves Drumline welcomed the audience with an exciting show of skill.  Attendees poured onto the floor and for a moment attendees could be seen marching to the beat of these talented drummers.

Some of the lessons learned by MSOs in the past few years have led to new disaster recovery methods and impoved network restoration procedures.  Some of that technology was on display at EXPO this year.  Seen left, the Cox Disaster Recovery Command Center was built after the Hurricane Katrina Recovery effort in New Orleans.

Cable Labs demonstrated the latest in video & data standards and had working displays demonstrating 4K video compared to standard high definition.  4K is also known as Ultra HD Video.  In addition, Cable Labs also had the new DLNA technology which will allow customers to operate their cable recievers wirelessly using smart TVs.  This technology is powered by recievers equipped with wireless gateway technology.
